1. Overview
Anathema AI (“Anathema,” “we,” “us”) provides an artificial intelligence chat platform with image generation, image editing, vision analysis, document analysis, audio transcription, web search, and library search capabilities. This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) governs your use of all Anathema services, including but not limited to anathema.ai, the Anathema API, and any associated tools or features.
By using Anathema, you agree to comply with this AUP. Violation may result in suspension or termination of your account without refund.
2. Our Philosophy
Anathema is designed to provide uncensored, honest responses to user queries. We believe adults should be trusted to ask questions and draw their own conclusions. Lexi, our AI, holds positions on political, religious, historical, and social topics and will express them directly.
“Uncensored” does not mean “without limits.” The following rules exist to protect vulnerable people, comply with applicable law, and ensure the platform remains operational for all users.
3. Prohibited Content and Conduct
3.1 Absolutely Prohibited (Zero Tolerance)
The following will result in immediate, permanent account termination, reporting to law enforcement where required, and forfeiture of any remaining subscription balance:
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM): generating, requesting, describing, or distributing any sexual content involving minors, whether real or fictional
- Credible, specific, actionable threats of violence against identified individuals or groups (e.g., “I am going to [specific act] at [specific location] on [specific date]”)
- Content that facilitates human trafficking or sexual exploitation
- Distribution of malware, ransomware, or tools designed to compromise computer systems
- Doxxing: publishing private personal information (home addresses, phone numbers, financial information) of others without consent
3.2 Prohibited Conduct
- Automated access, scraping, or systematic data collection without express written permission
- Circumventing rate limits, usage caps, or subscription tier restrictions
- Sharing account credentials or API keys with unauthorized parties
- Creating multiple accounts to evade bans or usage limits
- Circumventing usage limits through message deletion, conversation deletion, or any other method designed to reset daily counters
- Using the service to generate spam, phishing content, or fraudulent materials
- Impersonating Anathema staff, other users, or public figures in a manner intended to deceive
- Deliberately attempting to cause service disruption (DDoS, resource exhaustion, etc.)
- Using the service to facilitate any activity that is illegal under the laws of the United States
3.3 Sexual Content
Anathema does not produce pornography. Lexi does not write sexually explicit material, and the Studio does not generate depictions of sex acts or genitalia. This is a limit on what the service creates, not on what you may talk about. Frank discussion of sexuality, relationships, and the human body is permitted under Section 3.4.
3.4 What Is NOT Prohibited
For the avoidance of doubt, the following are explicitly permitted on Anathema:
- Discussing any political, religious, historical, philosophical, or social topic, regardless of how controversial
- Expressing opinions that may be considered offensive, unpopular, or politically incorrect
- Asking questions about sensitive historical events, including questioning official narratives
- Discussing race, ethnicity, IQ research, crime statistics, immigration, and demographic data
- Using strong language, profanity, or slurs in conversation
- Generating images that are legal but may be considered offensive, satirical, or provocative
- Criticizing any public figure, institution, government, religion, or ideology
4. Image Generation and Editing
Anathema provides AI-powered image generation and editing. Generated images are watermarked with “anathema.ai.” You may use generated images for personal, commercial, or editorial purposes, subject to the following restrictions:
- You may not generate CSAM or any sexual content depicting minors under any circumstances
- You may not generate images intended to be used as fraudulent evidence in legal proceedings
- You may not generate images of identifiable real people in sexual or degrading scenarios without their consent
- You may not generate sexually explicit imagery, including depictions of sex acts or genitalia
- You are responsible for how you use and distribute generated images
AI-generated image prompts may be automatically screened for prohibited content. Prompts flagged as prohibited may result in enforcement action under Section 10.
Anathema is not responsible for the content of AI-generated images. AI image generation is imperfect and may produce unexpected, inaccurate, or offensive results.
5. File Uploads and Processing
Depending on your subscription tier, you may upload images, text documents (.txt, .md, .csv), code files (.py, .js, .ts, and others), binary documents (.pdf, .docx), and audio files (.mp3, .m4a, .wav, .ogg, .webm) for AI analysis, vision processing, document extraction, or audio transcription. By uploading any file, you acknowledge and agree:
- Uploaded files are processed in-memory and may be stored as part of your conversation history in our database
- Audio files are sent to a third-party transcription service for processing and are subject to their data handling policies
- Transcripts are stored on our CDN and linked in your conversation history
- Uploaded images may be sent to the AI model for vision analysis
- Files are NOT encrypted at rest
- Anathema is NOT HIPAA, PCI-DSS, SOC 2, or otherwise compliance-certified
- You must NOT upload files containing: protected health information (PHI), payment card data, Social Security numbers, government-issued identification, trade secrets, attorney-client privileged communications, or any data subject to regulatory compliance requirements
- You are solely responsible for ensuring that any files you upload do not contain sensitive, confidential, or regulated information
- Anathema assumes no liability for data contained in uploaded files
- Binary documents (PDF, DOCX) are processed in an isolated sandbox environment and are not stored; files are discarded after text extraction
5a. Code Execution
Pro and Max subscribers may execute code (Python, JavaScript, Bash) through Lexi's sandboxed code execution environment. Code runs in an isolated container with no network access, limited memory (256MB), and a 30-second timeout. By using code execution, you acknowledge and agree:
- Code execution is provided for legitimate purposes: debugging, data processing, calculations, and learning
- The sandbox has no internet access; code cannot make network requests, download files, or communicate with external systems
- You may not attempt to escape, exploit, or circumvent the sandbox isolation
- You may not use code execution for cryptocurrency mining, resource exhaustion, or any form of abuse
- You may not use code execution to generate malware, exploit code targeting real systems, or tools intended for unauthorized access
- Code execution environments are ephemeral; no data persists between executions
- Anathema is not responsible for the output of executed code or any decisions made based on code execution results
- Abuse of code execution may result in feature revocation or account suspension
6. AI Accuracy and Limitations
Lexi is an AI. She is not a human, a professional advisor, a doctor, a lawyer, or a financial consultant. Her responses are generated by a language model and may be:
- Inaccurate, outdated, or factually wrong
- Biased toward the positions she was trained on
- Offensive, controversial, or politically charged
- Inconsistent between conversations (she does not retain memory between sessions)
You should independently verify any information provided by Lexi before relying on it for decisions that affect your health, finances, legal standing, or safety. Anathema is not liable for any actions taken based on AI-generated content.
7. Service Availability
Anathema is provided on a “best effort” basis. We do not guarantee:
- Specific uptime percentages or service level agreements (SLA)
- Specific response times, context window sizes, or inference quality
- Availability of any specific feature, tool, or capability at any given time
- That the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure
Features, capabilities, and tier limits are subject to change. We will make reasonable efforts to notify subscribers of material changes, but reserve the right to modify the service at any time.
Usage limits per tier represent fair use caps designed to ensure quality service for all users. We reserve the right to enforce reasonable limits on any plan, including plans marketed as “unlimited.”
8. Subscriptions and Payments
Paid subscriptions are billed monthly through our payment processor. By subscribing, you agree to:
- Recurring monthly charges at your selected tier's rate
- Charges continuing until you cancel via your dashboard
- No refunds for partial months or unused features
- Tier downgrades taking effect at the next billing cycle
- Account termination for AUP violations forfeits remaining subscription balance
9. Data and Privacy
Conversation data is stored in our database to provide the service. We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not use your conversations to train models for other companies. Conversation data may be used to improve Lexi's responses through periodic retraining.

10. Reporting and Enforcement
Lexi has a built-in reporting mechanism that flags conversations involving prohibited content (Section 3.1). Reports are reviewed by the platform operator. Enforcement actions may include:
- Warning
- Temporary suspension
- Permanent account termination
- Reporting to law enforcement (for CSAM, credible threats, or other criminal conduct)
We reserve the right to review any conversation or content associated with a reported account. We are not obligated to provide advance notice of enforcement actions for zero-tolerance violations.
11. Age Requirement
You must be at least 18 years of age to use Anathema. By creating an account or using the service, you confirm that you are 18 or older. We do not knowingly provide services to minors.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Anathema AI, its operator, and its affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising from your use of the service, your violation of this AUP, or your violation of any applicable law.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this AUP at any time. Material changes will be communicated through the platform or via email. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
